While browsing on Facebook (like many of you are probably doing or do throughout your day), I stumbled across this post and immediately felt compelled to write a blog post about it. After an incredibly busy month of March, and a crazy April just starting, this quote couldn’t hold more truth to my life.

Everyone is usually looking for something to accomplish and reap the rewards and benefits of the recognition when finishing. What they don’t realize is that half the beauty in accomplishments, is to overcome. After you know what you want to accomplish and strive for, overcoming the obstacles to get there, to me, is the most important battle. One has to overcome fears, inner struggles, and society’s pressures in order to succeed in their life goals and dreams. Overcoming these obstacles forms us as a person, not the end result of “oh yeah, i did this, this, and this.” It is a constant journey through life and that’s the fun in it; overcoming fears and becoming a stronger person because of the crazy ride.

I am proud of who I am, where I come from, and the things I had to overcome to get this far. After graduating high school, many people asked me what I would ever do with a degree in photography, much less succeed. “What are you going to do with that?” or “Oh….Are you going to be able to make a living with that?” were the questions I received most. Now, after almost completing my third year in the Art and Design field and sticking to my photography dreams, I am proud to say that my business is expanding and growing by the day. I have so many upcoming adventures and opportunities that I am excited for, along with the journey of reaching these goals. I am so glad that I stuck with it and decided to overcome what people thought and said. They don’t realize how rewarding it is to capture a moment in someone’s life that they can cherish forever. They can hold the moment close and never have to let go of it. That is why I chose to do what I do and I couldn’t be anymore happy.
